Director of Local & Global Missions

The Local and Global Missions Director is responsible for overseeing all missional engagement at Hope Church in our local area and to the ends of the earth. This role will be accountable for the development and management of all local and global Missions initiatives, training, sending, and support.

The Director of Local and Global Missions has the potential towards becoming a Pastor and member of the Council of Elders.

CHARACTER

  • Mature follower of Jesus Christ with character consistent with 1 Timothy 3:8-13
  • Authentic lifestyle demonstrating consistent character and spiritual growth, and a commitment to help others have the same
  • Agreement with Hope Mississauga’s doctrinal statement
  • A commitment to the mission, vision, and leadership of Hope Mississauga
  • A commitment to care for, minister to and pray with the staff and volunteers within the ministries that you work in, as well the congregation you serve

COMPETENCE

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Collaborative individual who works well in a team and is able to lead others
  • Well-organized, able to design and maintain systems, schedules, and procedures
  • Must possess experience and training in cross cultural evangelism and discipleship
  • Critical thinker, adept at problem solving, multitasking, and adapting to new challenges
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is comfortable with and capable of working without supervisor
  • Degree and/or experience in missiology

CONTRIBUTION

  • Global Missions
    • Establish the Global Missions strategy and focus for the church in collaboration with the Missions Team
    • Maintain strong vetting process for future partnerships
    • Develop and implement a missions pathway for developing prospective missionaries
    • Communicate with supported and sent workers and maintain church to church partnerships with the support of Missions Advocacy Teams.
    • Initiate opportunities for meaningful short term mission teams
    • Create mid term (1-12 months) cross-cultural service opportunities for members
    • Ensure effective and frequent Global Missions communications to the church family.
  • Local Missions
    • Establish the Local Missions strategy and focus for the church in collaboration with the Missions Team.
    • Maintain strong vetting process for future partnerships
    • Communicate and collaborate with other local churches and partnerships with local not-for-profit organizations.
    • Organize World Religion classes and Temple Tours.
    • Develop regular strategic service opportunities for the people of Hope to serve the practical and physical needs
    • Develop key volunteer leaders and teams to lead partnerships, events and initiatives
    • Ensure clear pathways for the people of Hope (individuals, families, Groups, etc) to connect directly with ministry partners for service
    • Overseeing and managing events for the local community
    • Collaborating with the pastoral team to see compassion initiatives running through all ministries of the church (ie: Groups curriculum and Group based activities)
    • Managing and updating the Missions/Compassion communications with current opportunities, events and information related to Compassion and Outreach
