Director of Operations

The Director of Operations provides developmental and operational oversight in the areas of strategic planning, organizational leadership, communications, finances, human resources and compliance. Duties include oversight of pastoral, full time, part time, and volunteer support staff.

The Director of Operations has the potential towards becoming a Pastor and member of the Council of Elders in the future.

  • Mature follower of Jesus Christ with character consistent with 1 Timothy 3:8-13
  • Authentic lifestyle demonstrating consistent character and spiritual growth, and a commitment to help others have the same

  • A commitment to care for, minister to and pray with the staff and volunteers within the ministries that you work in, as well the congregation you serve

COMPETENCE

  • Previous experience in upper level executive management
  • Strong leadership ability in articulating, accomplishing, and maintaining organizational vision and mission
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Collaborative individual who works well in a team and is able to lead others
  • Well-organized, able to design and maintain systems, schedules, and procedures
  • Must possess experience and training in cross cultural evangelism and discipleship
  • Critical thinker, adept at problem solving, multitasking, and adapting to new challenges
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is comfortable with and capable of working without supervisor

CONTRIBUTION

  1. Organizational Structure, Infrastructure and Processes
    • Define, develop, manage the ministries organizational structure of Hope Church
    • Develop and maintain process and tools to build, support and maintain the work of the ministry
    • Participate in strategic planning and facilitate the long range planning process
    • Ensure execution and implementation of vision and goals in collaboration with the Elders
  2. Human Resources
    • Identify and address staffing needs corresponding to the changing needs of the church body, reorganizing, hiring and releasing staff as necessary.
    • Coach and mentor direct reports through one-on-one meetings that combine professional, ministry and personal support/accountability.
    • Implement staff evaluation-process each year to help staff develop personal and ministry goals that foster personal and professional renewal consistent with our vision.
    • Coordinate and lead staff meetings and seek to instill a high level of focus and motivation in church staff.
    • Develop and implement workplace human resource policies and procedures.
  3. Compliance
    • Ensure important church documents are safely stored and secured (Letters Patent, Minute Book).
    • Ensure policy and procedures are in line with government standards and best practices.
  4. Finances
    • Oversee all financial operations in conjunction with Financial and Stewardship Team (F.A.S.T) and staff to maintaining financial integrity, stability and strategic readiness
    • Facilitate annual strategic budget process across all ministries ensuring that ministry planning and budget planning is aligned.
    • Implement compensation policies and make recommendations for annual compensation adjustments each year.
  5. Pastoral Leadership
    • Participate in shepherding responsibilities, such as discipleship and equipping, care and visitations to the sick, and counseling of members escalated by staff and lay leaders, in cooperation with the Board of Elders.
    • Teach and defend sound doctrine in various contexts in cooperation with the Board of Elders.
